Abstract

This research article critically analyzes the involvement of women in sports and recreational activities during the Prophetic Era in Islamic history, focusing on the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Utilizing a multidisciplinary approach, the study delves into historical texts, hadith and scholarly interpretations to elucidate the extent and nature of women's participation in physical activities during this pivotal era. By examining primary sources such as Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, the research identifies instances of women engaging in various sports and leisure activities, aiming to uncover the cultural, religious and societal factors that influenced their participation. The study explores the types of activities in which women were involved and assesses the broader implications on their physical well-being, empowerment and social integration. Through this analysis, the article seeks to contribute to a nuanced understanding of the historical context surrounding women's sports in early Islamic society. The findings may offer insights into the Prophet's encouragement of women's participation in physical activities, thereby informing contemporary discussions on women's roles in sports within the broader framework of Islamic history and culture. This research aims to bridge historical knowledge with current discourse, emphasizing the importance of contextualized perspectives on women's engagement in sports.
