Global Warming and Significance of Plantation: A Guideline from Sirah Taibah

Abstract

Teachings of Islam encompasses all spheres of humankind. Islam does not claim about spiritual prosperity alone, rather it provides a smart roadmap to overcome the burdens of this material world. Global warming is a man-made climate catastrophe. Mankind did not obey their Lord’s commandments and push themselves towards the edge of a precipice, by relentlessly using fossil fuels and polluting the atmosphere through greenhouse gasses. In this scenario, Islam’s eternal teachings and guidelines give hope to all humanity to learn from their mistakes again and get devise a strategy to tackle the global warming. In this article, the importance of plantation in the wake of the global warming is scholarly discussed. To highlight the plantation and discourage the deforestation, this article provides the slew of references from Quran, Sunnah and other legal sources to understand and address the Islamic approach towards global warming.
