The Causes for the Deviance of Banī Isrā’īl in Urdu Tafāseer: A Research Study in the Light of Aasār e Sahābah

Abstract

Banī Isrā’īl were among the nations who had a divine status. They were so blessed that they claimed themselves as the much blessed and selected ones by Allah. They had all kind of blessings and luxuries of their time. It is a ground reality and historical fact that the more they were blessed, the much they were thankless. They disobeyed their Prophets and denied to be perfectly obedient to their Creator. They insisted to maintain all the practices and doings which were strictly prohibited. They were given many chances and full guidance was provided to them through messengers. They rejected all the explanations and sympathetic advices. As a result for their behaviors, they were punished and had different sufferings. All the details about their actions, behaviors and misdeeds are described in various Surāhs of the Holy Qur’ān. Further details were described and interpreted latter on. Aasār e Sahābah are very basic, authentic and valuable source for the interpretation of Quranic verses regarding Banī Isrā’īl. We have focused the Urdu Tafāseer for the interpretation of the Quranic verses which are related to the wrongdoings and betrayals of Banī Isrā’īl. This study aims at the description of importance of Aasār e Sahābah for the interpretation of Qur’ānic verses which are related to the betrayals and destruction of Banī Isrā’īl.
