An Analytical Study of Interlocutors’ Viewpoint for the Proof of Faith from Singular Narrations

ABSTRACT:
The stance of theologians regarding the phenomenon of singular narration within various categories of hadith holds significant relevance in matters pertaining to faith. Different theologians have different opinions and have developed their viewpoint based on their own study of the matter and comprehension of the arguments pertaining to it in the primary religious literature. It is discerned that their stance emanates from their understanding of the nature of narration and its singularity. Mohaddisin and interlocutors have different dimensions and areas of concerns regarding the existence of faith related matters proved in the Islamic traditions. Primary hadith literature emphasizes on the authenticity of narrators involved in the narration while latter on the jurisprudents and some of the interpretators have focused the number of the people involved in the narration. This article seeks to elucidate the theologians' stance by means of primary sources and endeavors to explicate their viewpoint through the prism of their conceptions concerning narration and its singularity.
