The first step to understanding the meaning of any kind of literature is the word itself, and since Islam spread from the Arabia and the language of the Qur'an is Arabic, for those who were early Muslims, they were pure Arabs and existed at the time of the revelation of the Qur'an. There was no difficulty or trouble in understanding the difficult words of the Qur'an. But as time passed and as a result of the conquests, Islam began to spread from Arabia to the rest of the world, people needed different types of examples to understand the difficult words of the Qur'an; So, just as the Nahv, Sarf (Grammar) and Balāghah (rhetoric) came into being, in the same way, commentators presented Arabic poetry as evidence to explain the difficult words of the Qur'an to the common people, so that the meanings and concepts of the Qur'an become easier for the foreigners to understand. And it is not that in the early days of Islam, Istish’hād (Poetic evidence) did not exist, but many hadiths indicate that some Companions of Prophet also used Arabic poetry to interpret the Qur'an and explain the meanings of the difficult words of the Qur'an. This article, entitled "The Poetic Evidence in Tafseer ‘Al-Muharrar Al-Wajeez’ by Ibn e Atiyyah Al Andlusi (Surah Al-Baqarah as an example)", contains an analysis of the poetic evidence that Ibn e Atiyyah used in several maters in his Tafseer “Al-Muharrar Al-Wajeez”. Although there is a difference of opinion in the justification of poetic evidence in the interpretation of the Qur'an, but most of the commentators of the ancient times and almost all the commentators of the modern era agree that it is permissible to refer to Arabic poetry in the interpretation of the Qur'an.
