Khatib al-Baghdadi's Contributions to Hadith Studies: A Research Review

Abstract

Khatib al-Baghdadi is such a scholarly figure of his time that he accomplished such great feats in every field of religious service that those who said had to say that Khatib al-Baghdadi has written a separate book in every field of Islamic studies. Khatib al-Baghdadi performed all these services for the Hadith of the Prophet ﷺ, great muhadditheen have also been using his books, even it has been said that every fair person knows that every person who comes after the Khatib, He is forced to use books of Khateeb. Imam Dhahbi says that there is no greater proof of the taste and credibility of Khatib Baghdadi's hadith than the fact that “Khalifa” had issued a decree that preachers and scholars should not narrate any hadith without presenting it in front of them. Let the speaker permit what is said, and what he forbids, let the people refrain from saying it. In this article, Khatib al-Baghdadi's Muhaddith life has been discussed. It is hoped that it will be useful for the lovers of knowledge and hadith.
