This study explores the regulations regarding what actions and circumstances invalidate a fast according to the Qur’an and Sunnah, and extends these classical Islamic rulings to address contemporary medical scenarios. Initially, the research delineates the traditional criteria for what breaks the fast, emphasizing direct guidance from primary Islamic texts. Subsequent analysis considers modern medical interventions such as intravenous injections, dialysis, and medication usage, examining their impact on the validity of fasting through a lens of Islamic jurisprudence. Utilizing analogical reasoning (Qiyas) and consulting with contemporary Islamic scholars, this thesis provides practical guidance on how Muslims can maintain their fasts during medical treatments. The study not only deepens the understanding of traditional fasting rules but also offers vital insights for healthcare providers caring for fasting patients, thereby highlighting the adaptability and relevance of Islamic law in modern healthcare contexts.
