Abstract

Dera Ghazi Khan is an ancient city, Located in Southern Punjab Near the belt of Koh e Suleman. Which was settled by Nawab Haji Khan Mirani in the name of his son Ghazi Khan Mirani. The old city was washed away by the River Sindh and the new city was built in 1910 about 15 miles from the west of the river. There are 9 Tuman i.e. big Baloch tribes living here. In the new city, the British government built 67 blocks according to the maps. Due to its location, Dera Ghazi Khan is an important region. There were beautiful and ornate ancient mosques which fell victim to the ravages of time. There are ancient mosques and monasteries. Hindu and Sikh temples were once here۔ Many saints were associated with this land. Madrasahs here have lit the candle of religion throughout the religious area. There are also some Libraries which are of importance and from where students gain knowledge. In the following lines, authentic information regarding the history of Dera Ghazi Khan has been presented by deriving it from primary sources۔ In order to learn about the history of Dera Ghazi Khan as well as the religious and practical traditions and ancient mosques here۔
