This study examines the Islamic concept of peace and its relevance in the contemporary global context. Islam, a religion often associated with peace, emphasizes harmony, tolerance and justice as core principles for individual and collective well-being. In the Quran, peace is promoted as a fundamental aspect of life. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) further exemplified these values through various peace-building initiatives, fostering coexistence and understanding in diverse communities. Today’s world is rife with conflicts, violence and ideological extremism, which often distorts the peaceful message of Islam. This paper analyzes how Islamic principles of justice, tolerance and equality provide a framework for peaceful conflict resolution. For instance, the Quran commands justice and fairness, underscoring that societal justice is essential for lasting peace. Moreover, Islam encourages respect for religious diversity, advocating coexistence. These teachings counter misconceptions linking Islam to extremism, instead showing it as a means to foster global peace. The paper concludes with practical recommendations for integrating Islamic peace principles into modern interfaith dialogues and educational curricula. By embodying these values, societies can work toward a harmonious future, where Islam’s vision of peace is understood and implemented for collective human welfare.
