Abstract

The miraculous nature of the Quran is evident through numerous aspects, all of which have been extensively discussed by scholars of eloquence and commentators of the Quran. They have unveiled many secrets of its miraculous nature and revealed its profound truths. Among these remarkable aspects is one that we will discuss here: the eloquence of the Quran. The eloquence of the Quran stands as a testament to its divine origin, characterized by its perfect choice of words, harmonious structure, and profound impact on hearts and minds. Its ability to convey profound meanings with unmatched clarity and beauty remains unparalleled in human literature. Through its eloquence, the Quran communicates divine guidance, captivates listeners, and serves as an eternal challenge to those who doubt its authenticity. Among the various forms of eloquence, Mushakala (resemblance or congruity) holds a distinctive place. Mushakala refers to the use of a word or expression in a context that mirrors or aligns with another term, even if its literal meaning differs, creating a profound rhetorical effect. For example, in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:15), Allah says: "Allah mocks them" Here, the phrase responds to the hypocrites' mockery of the believers. Although Allah is beyond mockery, the expression is used in alignment with their actions to expose their folly and emphasize the gravity of their behavior. Similarly, in Surah Al-An’am (6:108), Allah states: "Thus, We have made their deeds seem fair to every nation." The choice of words and their arrangement reflect a deep rhetorical harmony, highlighting the social and religious realities. The Quran’s eloquence is not only a masterpiece of linguistic and literary principles but also a unique blend of wisdom and guidance. It captivates the heart and convinces the intellect, leaving an everlasting impact on its readers and listeners.
