(Sexual Harassment; Causes, Effects and Elimination-Comparative study of Islamic and Western Laws)

Abstract

Islam is not merely a religion, rather, Islam is a unique and comprehensive ideology that guides the life of human being in each and every field. The Islamic ideology consists of both the doctrine and system, to regulate life of human being. By the teaching of Islam, everyone in the Society has the right to live and work or do a job in such an environment that should be free from discrimination, bullying and harassment. In this Article, it has been discussed about the sexual harassment at work places its causes, effects and how to eliminate it. This can help to know more about the sexual harassment and what can someone can do if he/she being sexually harassed. By the research and experiments it is more clear that if someone is being sexually harassed, he/she might be stressed ,depressed or anxious .As a result losing confidence and self-esteem which is harmful for any society. By the sexual harassment a person may be less productive and unable to concentrate its job or duties. There may be some emotional effects and mental health effects. Some emotional effects are anger, fear, humiliation, shame, betrayal, guilt, violation and powerlessness and loss of control. It is estimated that 35 percent of women worldwide have experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or sexual violence by a non-partner at some point in their lives. This human rights and peace and security problem has begun to be the focus of international attention, with efforts being made to prevent its occurrence, to respond to the survivors' needs and to address impunity for those responsible. There are many types and aspects of sexual harassment discussed in this article.
