Abstract

This article aims at defining the concept of leasing and its various dimensions. This study will also help readers to know the view points of the four founders of fiqhi schools of thoughts including its definition and objectives in the hadiths of the holy prophet. Second part will discuss various rules and regulations regarding leasing in the light of Islam. This will help in better understanding of the idea of leasing and its various types. The third and last part of this dissertation will make a humble effort in knowing the place of leasing in Islamic banking systems by differencing between leasing and trade. This article discusses that the contemporary jurists who are against the notion of leasing should revisit and reinterpret the legal discourse of leasing as it became the dire need of today's financial system.
