Keywords:
Islamic society, women empowerment, family structure, contemporary practicesAbstract
This paper explores the role of women in Islamic society, emphasizing their rights and responsibilities within a contemporary context. It begins by highlighting the historical status of women before the advent of Islam, where they faced considerable oppression and denial of rights. In contrast, Islamic teachings fundamentally transformed this landscape by granting women essential rights, including education, inheritance and economic independence, thereby enhancing their social status. The paper discusses the significance of education as a fundamental right for women, supported by Islamic teachings that encourage the pursuit of knowledge for all, regardless of gender. In modern society, women actively participate in various fields, fulfilling roles as educators, professionals and leaders, thus demonstrating their capabilities and contributions. However, challenges such as gender discrimination, educational disparities and societal pressures persist, impacting women's empowerment. The paper also addresses the responsibilities of women in maintaining family structures and societal well-being, emphasizing their critical role in nurturing future generations. By analyzing these dynamics, the paper argues for the necessity of aligning contemporary practices with Islamic principles to ensure women's rights are recognized and upheld. It concludes that fostering a deeper understanding of women's roles within the framework of Islamic teachings can lead to a more equitable and just society, where women are empowered to fulfill their potential and contribute positively to their communities.
